As a public health precaution due to COVID-19 (coronavirus), all Smithsonian museums in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area and New York City, including the National Zoo, will temporarily close to the public starting Saturday, March 14. Through an experiment, students will investigate the possible cause of the terminal Cretaceous extinction. The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is the largest museum of its kind in the Southeast. The Museum offers unique opportunities for youth volunteers age 12 - 17 to help with our Summer Camps. Students have the unique opportunity to explore our halls and dioramas, go behind the scenes to our research labs and collections, as well as working with our wonderful educators and scientists to explore diverse science topics. Catch a butterfly release at Magic Wings, talk with animal keepers in Explore the Wild, enjoy a behind the scenes experience at The Farmyard, and so much more. Degree Program Master of Arts in Teaching Learn to teach Earth and Space science in New York City through the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Urban Residency Program. All Camps@Home programs are $125 for the week. The goals of the Junior Curator program are: To participate in opportunities for advanced students and experience the natural world. Educator Professional Learning Seminars on Science The Museum's online professional learning program for educators, offers courses in the life, Earth, and physical sciences. Kids explore exhibits, meet with scientists, and engage in interactive science activities. School Programs are offered from September-June and are only available for school groups. CEINT is collaborating with the Museum of Life and Science (MLS) located in Durham, N.C. to expand public education initiatives spanning G5-12 to adults.
